It is widely used for cooking, especially in barbecues and grilling, as well as in shisha/hookah. Many entrepreneurs in Indonesia have recognized the opportunity to transform this ‘waste’ product into high-quality coconut charcoal briquettes, which are then exported to USA, Canada, European and Middle Eastern countries. To create compact coconut briquettes, tapioca or starch is commonly used to bind the material, resulting in a solid and robust product.
